Hello, Our names are Luke & Luciaan and we are proud parents of 3 beautiful children including our 2 sons Larez (3 & 1/2 y/o) and Lukai (almost 2 y/o) and our new born daughter Liliaan. We have also been full time carers of Aanja, Luciaans 12 year old sister for 2 & 1/2 years since the tragic passing of their father.

From the start of July our kind hearted little boy Larez who had always thrived with his health had now become ill with persistent viruses and infections which were disregarded by doctors for 3 months. By October, his health started to rapidly decline. His skin had become so pale and his body was shutting down. This led us to the hospital for blood tests. expecting nothing from It again, we were told something no parent wants to hear; that your child most likely has Cancer (leukaemia). Immediately we were transferred to Queensland children’s hospital in Brisbane to get further testing including a bone marrow biopsy and a lumbar puncture to confirm the diagnosis and the type of leukaemia which came back as B-Cell Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (high risk).

During the induction phase of Larez’ treatment, he suffered a side effect resulting in internal bleeding in his intestines that have thankfully subsided. All while navigating through this new and scary journey, we birthed our beautiful newborn daughter in the midst of it.

Since this diagnosis it has drastically changed our lives. Going from a vibrant, active & close knit family to being stagnant & stuck in hospital for days on end away from our home and our other son Lukai.

All these changes have had a profound effect on us financially. Due to the constant attentive care Larez requires, it has limited our ability to continue working and earn an income that satisfies the costs of medication, travelling and general household expenses until the intensity of his treatment eases off.

We also planned on getting a larger car before his diagnosis to seat our family of 6 but that has since become something out of reach so any additional funds will also contribute to that.
