Reyna’s husband was detained on April 17th 2026. After spending three weeks in detention, he was deported to Honduras. He was the family’s primary provider while Reyna stayed home caring for their children, ages 18, 16, 10, and 6.

Their children attend schools in the Kensington/Rockville area. Two of the children will graduate from high school and middle school next month and while they are excited about this important milestone, they are also heartbroken that their father will not be able to attend the ceremonies. Reyna plans to arrange a video call so her husband can still share in this beautiful moment.

Since her husband’s detention, Reyna has been using their limited savings to pay rent. She has also been receiving weekly grocery deliveries from MoCo IRC and support from friends. Reyna has been searching for work but has not been able to find a job. Because of this, the family has made the difficult decision to relocate so they can be together again. After the children finish the school year, they plan to reunite with their father in Honduras.
