Hi, my name is Reymon LaChaux II, and I’m a senior at Oakland Technical High School with a passion for engineering and a dream of becoming a leader. This summer, I have an incredible opportunity to attend a study abroad program in Tokyo, Japan, through CIEE. This program will allow me to dive deeper into engineering, experience life in another culture, and grow into the person I aspire to be.
I’ve worked hard to reach this point, balancing academics, leadership, and community service. Here’s a little about me:
- I was honored to serve as President of my Hidden Genius cohort, where I helped lead my peers in developing tech and leadership skills.
- I volunteered at Tech Exchange, helping underserved families access technology.
- I give back to my community by supporting various initiatives, like the recent toy drive giveaway hosted by the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. I saw the joy of many children and families during this holiday season.
- I am committed to my education and am applying to UC Berkeley this fall to pursue my dream of becoming an engineer.
This study abroad program in Tokyo will allow me to expand my knowledge in engineering and step outside my comfort zone to experience the world from a new perspective. I believe that understanding different cultures is essential for creating innovative solutions to global challenges, and this program is the perfect opportunity to gain those insights.
The total cost of this program is $8,000, and I am working hard to earn the funds, but I need your support to make it happen. Any contribution, no matter the size, will bring me closer to my goal.
