Help Rexy- Heartbreaking Neurological Issue

I’ll never forget the first time I met Rex. He looked up at me with his little brown eyes and I asked when his birthday was and they said May 30th which is my birthday. We instantly connected and I knew he was meant to be my baby. Rex is my first dog I have had and cared for on my own. Wednesday night I woke up to Rex staring at me from the side of my bed crying to come up and I knew something was wrong. He also wouldn’t eat his pup cup I tried giving him which was very serious. We’ve been to 1 vet visit, 2 emergency visits and I am currently now with a neurologist specialist.
The first initial visit they thought he ate something bad so they did blood work and x rays as well and gave him shots and new wet food. Fast forward to the next day he wasn’t any better; more wimpering, screaming, wouldn’t eat or drink or use the bathroom. I rushed him in again this time to an ER and they determined when they pressed down on his head his neck was in a ton of pain.
They did x rays and gave me new medicine and said to monitor him. The next day Rex had rapidly declined. I was about to go to sleep when he woke up screaming and couldn’t even walk. He fell into his side and rolled over and couldn’t move so I rushed him in again in the early hours of the morning. He was given more meds and they told me it looked neurological by the way he was walking and cramping up. They said if it didn’t improve to take him to blue Pearl on Monday.
Sunday into Monday was the worst sound I’ve ever heard. He was wimpering and crying every hour and couldn’t walk himself. He crawled to the edge of his cage just to try and drink water but failed. So here I am sitting in the emergency room which was a $500 deposit and another $1500 with x rays and blood work on top of all of his other visits.
They have determined it is either Disc disease which is $6k for a spinal tap and MRI, MUE disease or cancer. They cannot determine what it is without a spinal tap and MRI and it is very expensive. If he needs surgery that will cost up to $10k and that’s not including his MRI and spinal tap. He cannot walk so they have him comfortable and are running tests.
I have never thought I would be in this position. He turns 6 in 15 days and I want him to see his birthday. If you’ve met Rex you know how wonderful and silly and loving he is. He is my entire world and without him I don’t know what I would do. He licks my tears when I cry, he wags his tail when he’s happy to see me and falls in love with everyone he meets. I normally would NEVER post for help but these vet bills are rising and I can’t lose my best friend. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and please know I appreciate you even opening the link. Please share to help Rex, my baby is in pain.
