Update 1/9/25: No cancer seen (thank God). Pancreas and lymph nodes are ok. Some gall stones but nothing to be concerned about. Liver slight changes but nothing alarming especially since her levels are perfect. Her kidneys, there’s a significant change. So he needs to speak to the doctor who read the US and he will get back to me but he is thinking the secondary infection- acute Lyme nephritis. Once damage is done with the kidneys there is no changing it, but he’s going to see the doctor who read it what her recommendation would be for a medication to help with protein loss for the kidneys and how long to be on the antibiotics. At least we have somewhat of an answer now and once he consults the other doctor we can come up with a plan! I know we will have a long road ahead of us so we appreciate anything you can give.
Update 1/8/25: I was able to get some baby food into Rexie this morning and her antibiotics. She went for the anti nausea meds and got her ultrasound today. When she came home I was able to give her the appetite stimulant. So now we wait til she wants to eat (hopefully ) and the ultrasound results. And then we can see what our next steps are!
Our furbaby Rexie, the sweetest, most kind, gentle soul, is sick. She became sick on Christmas Eve. We took her to the vet on December 27th, and she tested positive for Lyme. They treated her, and she started doing well by that Sunday. The following Saturday, she started not eating, shaking, and she has peed herself a few times, which is very out of the ordinary for her. We took her back yesterday (1/6), and the doctor is at a loss on what's going on. She still has a fever, her WBC is very high, which means infection and lots of other stuff. We did an X-ray of her chest and abdomen, and all is clear. The next step is an ultrasound, which we will be doing ASAP. We are waiting on results on one more test that may give us answers. Tomorrow Rexie will get some anti nausea medicine and will hopefully be able to keep down an appetite stimulant. She is on 2 antibiotics as well.
Please help us get our furbaby back to her normal self.
