Help Rex Win the Fight for His Life
Donación protegida
This week has been one of the most difficult weeks ever. This week, we learned that Rex Criggar, my roommate, best friend, and my rock is suffering from stage 4 colon cancer. The cancer has spread to his liver. Yet, upon hearing this horrible news, Rex stated, in true Rex form, “Ok. Tell me what I need to do to fight this, and I’ll get started now.”
That’s the thing about Rex—he asks for nothing, yet gives of himself to everyone. Whether you’re a friend, relative, or an acquaintance, if you need help, Rex is your man. I’ve seen him give so much to others, yet have so little for himself. Throughout the last year and a half of being roommates, the man has helped me in more ways than I can count on fingers and toes. He’s helped me and countless others throughout his entire life. I’ve known him for 34 years, and I’ve never heard him complain, and I’ve never heard him turn down an opportunity to help anyone in need.
Right now is the time to give back to Rex. It’s time to help him win the fight for his life. He will be undergoing 12 rounds of chemotherapy over the span of 6 months. Time is of the essence, as the fight must start.....soon. In order for the fight to begin, we found out at his oncology appointment today, that he will need $4500 out of pocket before he can begin these treatments. The first treatment is set for 2 weeks on August 14; however, the financial manager explained that if he doesn’t have the money, he will need to prolong treatment until he does have the money.
Rex would never ask a soul for money, and those of you who know me know that I won’t ask anyone for money....unless it’s desperately needed. This is one of those desperate times . I can’t stand the thought of watching my best friend not only stress about his cancer diagnosis and the pain and fatigue that goes along with that, but now there’s an added stress of “How can I do this? There’s no way I can pay $4500 cash!” So, I’m taking matters into my own hands. If you know Rex, you know what an amazing person he is, and if you don’t know him, then you now know he is well-deserving of a miracle. He is still working full time (that was the second thing he asked the doctor—“can I continue to work full time because I’ve only been off once this year!”
Any little bit will help. Whatever you can do, even if it’s coming to visit. Anything is greatly appreciated. Support is what he needs. Bless you for your help and extra prayers.
