Help Rex Walk Again After Being Hit by a Drunk Driver

Hi, my name is Issabela, and I’m fundraising for our dog Rex — a gentle, loving Great Pyrenees who was tragically hit by a drunk driver in an ATV.

The accident dislocated Rex’s hip, and because he’s such a large dog, he now needs an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery to be able to walk again without constant pain. Right now, his back leg is completely unusable — it hangs at an unnatural angle, and he limps painfully every time he tries to move. Despite everything, he’s still trying to be strong… but he’s clearly in pain, and it breaks our hearts.

The surgery is urgent — without it, Rex may never regain the use of his leg and will likely suffer from chronic pain for the rest of his life.

The cost of the surgery is $2,350. We’ve already paid $550 and took out a loan to cover part of the emergency vet bills, but we simply don’t have enough to cover the rest. The initial visit alone was over $600, and we’re doing everything we can — but it’s more than we can afford right now.

Even more devastating, the people responsible for hitting him have refused to take accountability, despite being clearly caught on camera. We’re left with the physical and emotional aftermath, trying to comfort Rex and explain to my stepson why his best friend is hurt and crying all the time.
