Help Restore Family Workshop Damaged by Floods in Germany
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
On June 1st, the small town in Bavaria, Germany where my family resides experienced heavy rain followed by a devastating flood. Our family's weaving workshop, created by my great-grandfather in 1946, was submerged under 30 cm (A whole FOOT!) of water.
Thanks to the quick efforts of our friends and family in the area, we managed to save some of our precious sewing machines, handwoven rugs, weaving tools, and yarns by moving them to higher ground.
However, we are just now realizing the extent of the damage the flooding had on the foundation and structure of our workshop. We're still assessing the full extent of the damage, particularly to the insulation material underneath the wooden floor and inside the walls. It's likely that we'll need to replace the wooden floor, adding to the overall cost of repairs.
We additionally had just invested in newly installed solar cells and photovoltaic modules which were lost, with an estimated cost of €15,000+ to replace them.
Our insurance will only cover a minimal portion of the damages. To help rebuild our workshop, we've started this GoFundMe campaign. Your contributions will directly aid in repairing the floor, replacing damaged equipment, and ensuring that we can soon begin weaving again.
Our weaving workshop has always been in the family; I personally learned weaving from my mother and aunt, who learned from my Oma who still lives above the workshop today. We are a small eco-friendly business, using recycled wool and plant materials into beautiful, handwoven rugs.
As a small business, your support will help us in continuing our family tradition through the repair of the damage and commitment to sourcing sustainable products and minimizing our energy use.
Any amount you can give will make a huge difference. We really appreciate your support during this difficult time. Thank you so much for helping us keep our family's weaving tradition going strong!
Much Love,
