Help Revive Frick Park Wetlands

Donation protected
We are a group of students at Phipps Youth Climate Action Committee working with Upstream PGH to restore the wetlands in 9 Mile Run at Frick Park.

Native filtration plants such as bulrushes and juncus can purify water by uptaking heavy metals in the soil and reducing the effects of chemical contaminants and pollutants that result from industrialization. They oxygenate the water and have strong root systems, which prevent soil erosion from flash flooding as well as harmful algae blooms. The plants will provide habitats for aquatic and land wildlife, balance the food chain, and provide clean water for neighboring communities.

Filtration is not always done in management plants or with fancy equipment - native plants can do it too! Please donate to help us buy plants to restore wetlands and plan a community planting day. We want to reduce the effects of urbanization on our water and environment! Any extra proceeds will be donated to Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
