Help Rev. Matthew Johnson with Legal and Jail Costs

Donation protected
Beloved Community Ministries Rev. Matthew Johnson was arrested in Kentucky in December of 2025. He's been held in Whitley Co Jail ever since, in terrible conditions. Upon arrest, he was tased 16 times by officers, had is his foot broken, and has yet to receive medical care. He was also denied outside communication for months, and sleeps on the floor of a ten person cell. He's now able to be more in contact with friends and loved ones and would appreciate letters of support. This money will be used for for commissary, books, travel for visits, phone calls, legal representation, and other jail/arrest related expenses. If you'd like to write to him, please reach out to mutual friends for mailing instructions.

Funds raised will be paid to assist Matthew Johnson, at the discretion of The Library of the Commons, which is obligated to use all contributions to advance charitable purposes.

Please note that, even though The Library of the Commons is a nonprofit, you should not treat your donation as a deductible for charitable purposes. According to IRS Publication 526, "you can’t deduct contributions earmarked for relief of a particular individual or family."
