My name is Sarah, and as hard as it is for me to ask for help, time is running out and this is my last resort. For those who know me, you already understand how rough life has been over the past year and a half, especially these last four months. For those who don’t, here’s my story: Last January, I was in a horrible car accident that nearly killed me. The doctor told me I was lucky to survive, as my neck was broken and I suffered a traumatic brain injury. Before the accident, I was working two jobs, but as I was being prepped for neurosurgery, I lost my main job at MGM Grand Casino. I was unable to think for myself, let alone work. After healing from surgery, I returned to my serving job at National Coney Island just days after getting the staples removed from my neck and head. Then, in April, I was diagnosed with Lupus. Every day I showed up to work took everything I had, even though I tried to hide the pain with a smile. I’ve struggled not only physically, but financially, and over the past four months, I’ve been homeless.
If it were just me, I might have given up, but I have two innocent bystanders—my dogs, Kindred and Leo. I’ve always taken better care of them than myself. They’re flea-free, up to date on their shots, always have food, water, treats, and my all-consuming love. Last month, I couldn’t afford a room, so I took them to a kennel, thinking it would be just for a few nights. However, I became ill and was hospitalized, and now they’re in jeopardy of being surrendered by the kennel because I can’t afford to get them out.
Please help us be reunited. Kindred and Leo are my family, and your support means everything to us. They are what keeps me pushing forward, and I know they miss their mama. Time is running out, and any help you can give will make a world of difference.
