Help Reunite Raven and Trouble With their family in Portugal!

Tracey Miles and her husband John have sold everything they own and moved most of their furry family to Portugal. Her husband is still in the U.S., finalizing things, and there are still two cats—Raven and Trouble—that are in danger of being left behind due to lack of funding.

Tracey and John originally budgeted to move all of their animals to Portugal. However, due to complications with the airline involving two of their dogs, the move cost for both dogs went up from the expected $2,000 to a whopping $7,500. While their pet move budget was high from the start because they have so many rescue animals, these unexpected additional costs left them short of the funds to get their last two rescues—felines Raven and Trouble—to Portugal.

Yesterday, however, a flight attendant on the Elk Grove Pets Lost & Found group stepped up and offered to fly the cats out from Sacramento to Lisbon at no cost on his next trip to Europe, which is at the beginning of February. So, my husband and I are going to foster them until their flight, get them back to their vet in Elk Grove for their USDA certification appointment (the certificates are needed to get them into Portugal), and then ferry them to Andrew, the amazing flight attendant, for their flight to Portugal...and their family.

The flight may be free, but there are still costs to make this happen.

The total is $2500, which includes:

USDA Certification fees: $750 per cat ($1500 total)

Vet Clearance Fees in Lisbon: $100 for both cats (85 Euros)

Transportation from Lisbon Airport to Tracey and John’s house near Castelo Branco, on the other side of the country: $750

Two soft-side airline-approved carriers: $125-150 for two

Tracey has been one of the admins for the Elk Grove Pets Lost & Found group for many years. She’s saved countless animals over the last 16 years. Her life's purpose is helping animals, especially if it means reuniting them with their families. And now she’s looking at having to leave two of her beloved animals behind--any pet parent's worst nightmares. Please help us keep this family together!
