My name is Melanie, and together with Jailene, we are creating this GoFundMe for our close friend, Jazmine Gonzalez, during an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time. Jazmine reached out to us asking for help, and we knew we had to do everything we could to support her and her family. Jazmine was born in Spain but has been living in the United States since she was a toddler. This is the only home she has ever truly known. To see her taken away from everything she has built here, and from her children, feels deeply unjust. She is a loving and devoted mother to three beautiful little girls who are her entire world. Right now, her daughters are staying with their grandmother, who is doing everything she can to keep them safe and cared for—but they miss their mom deeply. They need her. Jazmine was detained by ICE in Newark, New Jersey, and on March 17th, we were informed that she is being transferred to Louisiana. Everything is happening so quickly, and her family is overwhelmed trying to understand what is happening and how to bring her back home. If she is deported, Jazmine would be sent back to Spain, where she no longer has a support system, resources, or a foundation to start over. This adds even more fear and uncertainty to an already devastating situation. Her parents are doing their best to stay strong for her and for the girls, but this has created an immense emotional and financial burden on the entire family. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward helping Jazmine with her legal case and supporting her daughters during this uncertain time.
