On April 1, 2025, KitKat, a beloved 3-year-old Poodle–Miniature Pinscher mix, slipped out of his front door in Bellflower, California. Within minutes, his family realized he was missing and began searching desperately. For months, they scoured shelters, posted flyers, and reached out to rescues. KitKat isn’t just a dog — he’s family. His owners were there the day he was born, they nursed him back to health when he nearly died from Parvo, and they’ve loved him every single day since.

In August, their search finally led them to a heartbreaking discovery: KitKat’s photo listed for adoption on AdoptAPet.com under Fur Baby Rescue. His distinctive floppy ear gave him away instantly. The rescue’s president confirmed it was him, but instead of reuniting KitKat with his family, she revealed he had been adopted out to strangers just 2 months earlier.

When KitKat’s family pleaded for his return, they were told he couldn’t come home because “the new family loves him too.” Since then, the rescue has cut off contact and even served KitKat’s family with a Cease & Desist letter...simply for sharing their story and asking for help.

This family is devastated. Their children cry for KitKat every day. And while their legal options are limited, they refuse to give up on him. With the help of a compassionate attorney, there is hope but legal action requires a $2,500 retainer to begin.
