My name is Michelle, and I’m raising funds to help bring my uncle home after he was taken into ICE custody this morning.
My uncle is a loving father, a hard worker, and the backbone of his family.
He was detained today on his way to work around 6:40 a.m. (BROOKLYN CENTER). The situation going on in Minnesota is hard. He had no other choice but to risk it every morning to go to work and risk himself at night as well.
The American Dream, as our immigrant community calls it. My uncle started on May 5th, 2021. He crossed that border for a better future for his family. He has three daughters, ages 10, 13, and 21. He worked a morning job from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and would come home to spend the time he had with his daughters and life partner before he had to get going to his other job during the night. This was a Monday to Friday schedule. This is what our president calls an “illegal criminal”: a man who will not care to get about 5 hours of sleep a day but makes sure he puts those hours in to get paid. He makes sure his two daughters and life partner have food on the table and a roof over their heads. He also worked hard for his older daughter who is in Mexico. His oldest is currently in college in Mexico. She is working so hard to be successful in the medical field. And guess what, that is also another reason he gets up every morning: to make sure her school is paid for, she can stay on campus, and she accomplishes her dream.
My uncle is a good man. HE IS NOT A CRIMINAL. HE IS A HUMAN BEING LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WHO WILL DO ANYTHING FOR THEIR FAMILY.

Fue detenido hoy de camino al trabajo, alrededor de las 6:40 a. m. (BROOKLYN CENTER). La situación en Minnesota es difícil. No le quedaba otra opción que arriesgarse cada mañana para ir a trabajar y también arriesgarse por la noche.
El sueño americano, como lo llama nuestra comunidad inmigrante. Mi tío comenzó su viaje el 5 de mayo de 2021. Cruzó la frontera en busca de un futuro mejor para su familia. Tiene tres hijas de 10, 13 y 21 años. Trabajaba de 7 a. m. a 3 p. m. y regresaba a casa para pasar el tiempo que tenía con sus hijas y su pareja antes de ir a su otro trabajo por la noche. Este era su horario de lunes a viernes. Esto es lo que nuestro presidente llama un "criminal ilegal": un hombre al que no le importa dormir solo 5 horas al día con tal de trabajar y ganar dinero. Se asegura de que sus dos hijas y su pareja tengan comida en la mesa y un techo sobre sus cabezas. También trabaja duro para su hija mayor que está en México. Su hija mayor está estudiando en la universidad en México. Se esfuerza mucho para tener éxito en el campo de la medicina. Y adivinen qué, esa es otra razón por la que se levanta cada mañana: para asegurarse de que su matrícula esté pagada, que pueda quedarse en el campus y que cumpla su sueño.
Mi tío es un buen hombre. NO ES UN CRIMINAL. ES UN SER HUMANO COMO TODOS LOS DEMÁS QUE HARÍA CUALQUIER COSA POR SU FAMILIA.
