Help Bring Alexander Home to His Family

On July 26, 2026, Alexander Jarquin-Jarquin, a husband, son, and hard-working member of our community- was arrested on his way to work on a Sunday morning at 7 am. No reason for the arrest was given. He has no criminal history, a valid work permit, and a valid driver’s license.

In 2021, Alexander entered the United States through the southern border seeking asylum and was released by ICE under parole. Since then, he has done everything right: he applied for asylum, obtained legal work authorization, got his driver’s license, and has worked 12-hour days, seven days a week, to support his family here and his father back home.

Alexander’s mother passed away two years ago. Since then, he has carried the full responsibility of caring for his elderly father, who depends on him for basic living expenses. He and his wife have no savings- every dollar they’ve earned has gone toward supporting his father and toward a home they were building for their family in Nicaragua. Now Alexander is in immigration custody, and his case is in front of an immigration judge. To secure his release and give him a real chance to fight his case, we need to show the court two things: that he is not a danger to the community, and that he is not a flight risk- meaning he has real ties and people here who will make sure he shows up to every hearing.

We met Alexander when my roommate and I moved to Miami in April. He built furniture for our apartment, and from the very first day he was extremely respectful and always on time. He worked early mornings, late nights- and never once complained. He doesn’t drink. He’d often say he just hoped God would bless him with something as simple as a glass of water. He is someone who wanted nothing more than to work hard for his family.

Immigration bond and legal costs are expensive. We’re raising funds to cover:

• Immigration attorney fees: approximately $5,000 (receipts can be provided)

• Immigration bond: approximately $5,000–$7,500 (receipts can be provided)

Total goal: $15,000

Every contribution, big or small, brings Alexander closer to being reunited with his family while his case moves forward. The detention center also requires payments for the food to be better quality, for him to get to contact his family on a phone, or to have basic items like a toothbrush.
