Help Reunite Families

Donation protected
I have started a GoFundme page on behalf of two inspiring single women who fled Afghanistan by themselves and one amazing little girl who escaped with her father but was separated from her mom and other siblings.  All worked for the American embassy or U.S. armed forces.

I am not sharing their personal information as this could jeopardize the safety of their families still in Afghanistan, but I can personally vouch that this is not a scam and your donation will literally be lifesaving.

Both are single women who worked for the U.S. government and were eligible to be evacuated this August when Kabul fell to the Taliban. However, they both had to make the impossible choice to leave their parents and siblings behind, as only children and spouses qualify as "immediate family" under the U.S. government's criteria.

One woman's well known advocacy work on women’s rights for the past decade have made her and her family a target of the Taliban after they took control of the country in August. She was able to flee the country during the US government evacuation, but her parents and brother were left behind. A few months ago, the Taliban members entered the family home looking for her and her sisters who were lawyers and judges. They beat her brother and destroyed furniture in the home when the family refused to disclose my friend’s location. Since that day, her family has been in hiding out of fear for their lives. Their situation has now become even more dire as the Taliban have abducted some of her activists colleagues and are circulating a video on social media with her face and name.

The other woman is very worried for her mother's health as it is getting very difficult to find the medication she needs with the collapsing economy. She also fears for the family's safety as they aren't practicing Muslims. As an unmarried woman in Afghan culture, she has lived her whole life with her parents. Although the U.S. government had to limit the definition of immediate family, this is the only family she has and they have no source of income as she supported them in their old age.

Finally, a father and daughter were separated from the rest of their family during the chaos at the Kabul aiport in August.  The eldest daughter, 8, was pulled over the wall by a marine but her three other siblings and her mom were lost in a cloud of tear gas. For five days, she and her dad waited inside the airport hoping the rest of the family could make an another attempt to get close to the airport gates, but they never succeeded. I want nothing more than for my little buddy to reunited with her mom.

The only way to get these families reunited and to safety is through organizations that have strong connections in the field and are able to help vulnerable groups like these get to a safe third country. We are working hard to secure them a visas out of the country where they can then wait safely and apply for more permanent residency somewhere else. However, safe accommodations, food, and transport cost a lot of money. The money raised in this campaign will go straight to a non-profit called Snow Leopard, an organization set up in the United States with the sole purpose of raising funds to help with these services.

Sometimes the problems of this world seem too big to solve as one person, and while it's true your donation will not change the world, I can guarantee it will change the world for my friends.

Thank you very much. Any little you can give would be much appreciated. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.
