We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts to share the plight of a beloved family within our school. In early January, the father of three of our students was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Batavia Detention Center after an unintended crossing of the U.S.-Canadian border.

This family, asylum seekers from Bangladesh, have been residing in the United States for over a year while their status remains pending. The father, a dedicated Uber driver, was assigned a food delivery to a duty-free store near the border on the U.S. side. Upon arrival, he found no clear route to turn back and had to turn around at the Canadian side of the bridge. His immediate attempt to return to the U.S. led to his detention, as his pending asylum status prohibits re-entry.

This unexpected detention has left his family in turmoil, struggling emotionally and financially due to this unintentional mistake.

We cannot stand by while a valued member of our community faces such hardship. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to:
