Help Manuel get his vision back!

Many of my archaeology/anthropology friends know Manuel Jamínez Tambríz as he has worked as a collaborator and cultural/spiritual guide on various of our research projects. Manuel now needs our help as he is losing his eyesight. Any money raised will go directly to his cataract surgery. The surgery costs $2,000, a seemingly impossible amount of money for an unemployed rural Maya person.
Manuel is a K’iche’ Maya spiritual guide and daykeeper (ajq’ij) who lives in the Highland Guatemalan town of Nahualá. He wrote the following:
"Brothers and Sisters, please excuse any bother that I might cause you with this request. For the first time in my life, I am asking for financial help. The reason I need help is I have cataracts in both of my eyes. The doctor told me I need an operation to remedy this situation. The operation costs 6,888 queztales per eye. I am 69 years ago and without a job thus is difficult for me to raise that amount of money without working. My name is Manuel. I am Guatemalan and a K’iche’ Maya spiritual guide. If it is possible for you to help me, I know that Ajaw/God will reward you."
