Help Return NYC 8255 To Service: '55 in '25!

To all supporters of the Adirondack Railway Preservation Society, we have started this Go Fund Me to assist us with the necessary funds to purchase a new set of eight (8) batteries for our New York Central RS-3, 8255, with the hope that it returns to service in 2025. As some of you know, with the help of our friends at the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum, as well as our volunteers and employees at the Adirondack Railroad, we were able to complete a substantial amount of work in 2024, even getting so far as starting 8255 last year. However, in order to return to service and be a reliable, regularly in service locomotive on the High Peaks Division, we need to complete several tasks including but not limited to: 1) Sourcing New Batteries; 2) Updating Air Valves; 3) An Oil Change, Sample, Etc.

These items all cost a substantial amount of money. Our ultimate goal is to be able to run a nose-to-nose set of original NYC RS-3's together, returning both 8255 to service and signing an agreement to operate the privately owned 8223 which is in Utica, with our locally owned and preserved unit. Once we get 8255 into substantially better operating condition, a paint job is not out of the question either.

As many of you know, these units called the Adirondack Division home when in service for their original owners. Help us to see '55 operate in '25!
