and/ or through the perspectives of family and close friends, who have shared speculative accounts of my father's fate. As his daughter, my memories of him end at the age of 9, intertwined with the narratives told by my mother. Only later did I uncover the truth we now know.
Numerous factors have been beyond my control, both in the past and present. Reflecting on my very first visit to the Dominican Republic as an adult and on my own. I will always cherish the overwhelming flood of memories and love I experienced. Meeting all of his childhood friends and elders who had known him since birth, still living in the same neighborhood, was truly touching and in a way healing for my spirit and many years of void. Especially when one of the elders greeted me by holding my face and saying "Roberta," acknowledging my resemblance to my father Roberto.
Sadly, my paternal grandmother spent the final years of her life in unimaginable grief and uncertainty, not knowing what happened to him and if she would ever hear from me again. A few months before her passing, I had the opportunity to FaceTime her. My paternal side said they believe she was waiting for me to reconnect with them to make sure I knew I had family that loved and missed me.
I am compelled to bring my father’s remains back to his home and family. With that being said, I am reaching out for your support to help bring my father's remains to his home country, the Dominican Republic, where his siblings and remaining family and friends can bid him a proper and long-awaited farewell.
Despite my efforts to seek financial assistance from victim support groups, local churches, and other organizations, my circumstances do not seem to align with their available scope of assistances.
The cost for disinterment of his grave and cremation at the funeral home where he is buried in Michigan was $3,213.50, which is my minimum goal
Currently, I hope to have my children present for the memorial service even though they were never fortunate enough to meet my father. The memorial service will be held in the Dominican Republic the the weekend of February 27, 2025. Flight costs for the journey range from $700 to $1000 each. The cemetery fees in the Dominican Republic range $900-$1200
I will be grateful to receive any monetary support to alleviate the financial stressors. Your assistance, regardless of the amount, would mean the world to me during this challenging time. Thank you for your consideration and generosity.
Note, for the sake of transparency and credibility you can view the disinterment and cremation estimate on the delayed justice website shared by Dr. Schock http://www.delayedjustice.com/?p=6807
