Help Retro move to a better apartment
Donation protected
Hey, it's Retro, or "TooManyBirds"
I live with my mother currently in a 2 bedroom apartment, but am paying the rent entirely on my own. The place we're in is awful, and they charge an absolutely absurd 1400 a month in rent, not including the utilities. Our lease is up in 2 months, and they wanna up it by another 60, bringing be up almost to 1500 before utilities, electricity, internet, and debt payments. My cost of living is so high that I'm left with under 300 each month that I need to split between basically everything else including food. This is entirely unsustainable, but I have no idea what to do.
I've found other places to live nearby, but I'd need a security deposit as well as first month's rent in advance, and as you can imagine, with how little I have left over each month, this is nearly impossible to achieve on my own. You might be asking why my mother isn't helping me with any of this as I'm still living with her, and the truth is she's absolutely buried in debt currently thanks to how long it took to sell our old trailer years back and needing to live off credit cards to pay rent. Almost everything she has is going to pay all of that.
It's a shitty situation for us both. If I can manage to get my own place, she can go live with my sister, so she'll be okay if I'm on my own. But I need a kickstart to get there.
I really didn't want to make a fundraiser, but I don't see any other options for me. I have horrible credit so I can't get a loan, I have no savings, and I have very little free time to figure things out with how much I'm working to keep the lights on.
If you would like to help out, I would be eternally grateful. The money this raises will go towards paying the rent at my current place in advance, that way I get some buffer and can actually save up some cash for the security deposit/rent for the new place. Any extra raised will go towards moving costs or towards the deposit for the new place.
If I can manage the move and get to live somewhere with a lower cost of living, I'll be much better off and can start living again without fear of missing rent payments and being kicked out. I want to be in a place where I never have to ask for help like this again, and have the ability to help others.
