Greg ran toward danger so someone else could live. That moment took his life as he knew it.
In May 2008, Greg was on duty as a Scottsdale Police Officer. While restraining a suicidal man to prevent him from harming himself and others, Greg suffered catastrophic spinal injuries.
The man lived. Greg's career ended. Greg did his job and it cost him everything.
For 17 years, Greg has lived in constant, severe pain. And the spinal injury was just the beginning. After his 2008 line-of-duty injury, an unrelated genetic condition emerged, and became a nightmare. His body keeps breaking down: four spontaneous artery tears in his neck, a stroke, and ongoing life-threatening vascular emergencies that sent him to the ER six times in the last twelve weeks alone.
For months, Greg told doctors something was catastrophically wrong. He was dismissed every time. Sent home. Told he "just has a stomach ache."
Finally, in January 2026, a CT scan revealed a life-threatening dissection of his Superior Mesenteric Artery with aneurysm. A vascular specialist reviewed his previous scans and found multiple previously missed problems: renal artery aneurisms, enlarged aorta, hole in his heart.
She told Greg: "You are the poster child of classic and obvious vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome."
Vascular EDS is a rare genetic condition that causes arteries to tear without warning. It explains why Greg's body can't heal and why each episode could be fatal.
Greg now lives on disability, in pain every day, unable to sit through a meal, sleep through the night, or work. He is drowning in medical debt and facing homelessness.
There is hope.
Regenerative stem cell treatment at Auragens Medical Center in Panama could heal the spinal damage, stabilize his condition, strengthen his blood vessels, and prevent the next crisis from taking his life.
Insurance refuses to cover it. This treatment is Greg’s chance to live.
WHERE EVERY DOLLAR GOES:
Emergency vascular surgery & medical bills: $15,000
Stem cell treatment at Auragens: $40,000
