Four others and I are raising funds to help a 78 - year - old retired nurse with disabilities who has lived in the city since 1970. Beverly was cited by the city of Willoughby for the condition of her yard. She has already incurred fines and is being threatened with jail time by July 16 if this isn't taken care of.

Beverly has always been a compassionate person when it comes to nature. she loves the outdoors, feeds the birds and squirrels every morning and has always cared deeply for the small wildlife around her home.

Because of that, we want to restore her yard into a peaceful garden space she can enjoy again - a place where she can drink her morning coffee and watch the animals she loves.

We are asking for $6,000 to cover the cost of removing dangerous trees, a dumpster to haul away debris, paying her fines and court costs, installing a security system and building her a small garden that reflects her love of nature.

Our volunteer group has already logged 20 hours of cleaning up her yard. About 90% of the clearing and haul - away is already completed. We are now waiting on the tree removal to finish the last 10% before we can begin building her garden.

The outpouring of support has been incredible. People have reached out from as far as Tennessee and Connecticut. Volunteers have driven up from Columbus and Grafton - an hour and a half to two hours away - just to help. The Willoughby community and surrounding areas have truly stepped up with concern and compassion for Beverly and her situation.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward improving her safety, clearing the violations and giving her a peaceful outdoor space she can enjoy again.
