Cancer has no mercy. Brain tumors, even less so. Reta Foley never expected to be anything other than a happily retired woman living with her disabled partner Susan, their two dogs Nitro and Amaya, and two cats Pepper and Scrump. All of that changed abruptly when Reta began having personality shifts, memory issues and a bit of disorientation and confusion that sent her to the hospital. In a short span of time, she went from capable caregiver to a terminal diagnosis post-brain surgery. She is currently in physical therapy but won't ever be able to navigate all the stairs in their home in San Francisco again.
Now she and her partner need a safe home where they will both be cared for and won't have to navigate stairs. Susan's sister Nancy is making room in her home in Bucksport but first we have to get Reta, Susan, Nitro, Amaya, Pepper, and Scrump across the country. Reta needs round the clock care and medical transport is prohibitively expensive. So they are renting an RV to drive everyone from San Francisco to their new home in Maine. But they need help. Reta, Susan and Nancy are all retired and funds have run out taking care of everything else that has cropped up since Reta's diagnosis.
Help us get Reta home. She is a born and bred Mainer and deserves to spend her remaining time in dignity and love with her partner of 38 years, their beloved furchildren, and family.
