My name is Michaela Johnson, and my brother-in-law recently started a car restoration company specializing in antiques/old automobiles. He has been restoring old cars for nearly his entire life and has dreamed of starting his own company. About 1 year ago he saved enough funds and got a loan in order to grow his business and buy a shop to work out of (rather than his home garage).
Recently with COVID-19 business has slowed down, because his work is seen as a luxury. The first 5 years of a company are the most crucial to survive, and business has already been tough.
To make matters worse on September 14, 2020, his shop was burglarized and at least $12,000 worth of parts were stolen. The four men were caught on camera, but they were wearing masks. The cops say he will probably never see his stolen equipment again, but they are still working to collect all video surveillance (pictures below).
The catch is... they didn't actually break into the shop, but it was the shipping container/storage unit he had next to the building. His insurance is only for the shop, not the storage unit, so his insurance won't cover the losses. Also, the landowner doesn't have coverage for the storage unit either.
I wanted to create a GoFundMe to help his business and prevent this from being a major setback. I know $12,000 is a large goal, but anything would help.
A little about Resurrection Automotive: "Resurrection Automotive was established in 2012. We take pride in the attention to detail we put into our customers cars. We don't cut corners, we make sure the job is done right the first time. Our passion in cars is our pride. No matter the size of the job, quality is our number one goal."
