In the early hours of September 3rd, our family received devastating news: my uncle Delroy’s shop, known to everyone as Junior’s Shop, was intentionally set on fire in our family’s district in Jamaica. We are grateful no one was physically harmed, but the loss is overwhelming.

For over 60 years, Junior’s Shop has been more than a storefront. It was a gathering place where neighbors shared stories, celebrated milestones, and supported one another through challenges. It was a refuge, a cornerstone of the community, and a symbol of resilience and connection.

Today, that space of fellowship and history lies in ashes. The emotional weight of losing decades of hard work is heavy, especially for my uncle at this stage of his life. Rebuilding will be a tremendous task, but we believe that with the support of our extended family, friends, and community, it is possible.

We are humbly asking for your help to:

Rebuild the shop structure, replace essential items lost in the fire (clothes, appliances, equipment), covering shipping and security costs, repurchasing vital farming equipment that sustained both the shop and the community.
