Help Restore Truman J Maust Farm's Legacy

Donation protected
The night of April 19th a supercell raced down the Mason Dixon line causing severe damage along the way. The Truman J Maust Farm, established in late 1890s, suffered great devastation. Both barns on our family farm were completely destroyed. The red barn, known as the Maust Barn, was built in 1898 and is a part of the Maryland Historic Trust listed under the Truman J. Maust Farm. In addition to these barns, several of our family’s historical Allis Chalmers tractors were also destroyed beyond repair along with all the hay and other equipment that was stored in the barn.

The Red Barn was more than just a barn. It was the last remaining original piece of our family farm, as we lost the farmhouse in a fire 1994 year.

The loss of these barns is devastating to our family. As hay farmers, we now have nowhere to store hay and have lost several piece of equipment needed to make hay. Our cows no longer have shelter and their hay is trapped under the barn where it has been rained on.
