For many years, our team of researchers in Germany has worked hand-in-hand with dedicated health workers and researchers in Kenya to improve health outcomes through collaborative studies on malaria, malnutrition, HIV and climate change adaptation.

These partnerships have led to important insights and lifelong friendships - but now, one of the very clinics that makes this work possible is in desperate need of help!

The HIV clinic at Wagai Health Care Facility in Siaya County, Kenya, began as a humble container donated by the CDC two decades ago.

Over the years, it has served as a vital point of care for thousands of people, providing testing, treatment, and follow-up for HIV, as well as supporting community-based research and outreach.

However, time and tropical weather have taken their toll.

The staff work tirelessly under these conditions to provide essential care to thousands of patients every year.

Our research budget cannot legally be used for infrastructure or maintenance - but we cannot stand by while the facility deteriorates. So, we’re asking for your support to restore the clinic and ensure safe, dignified conditions for patients and staff.

We’ve already obtained local quotes, and the work will be carried out by local tradespeople, creating jobs and keeping the funds in the community.
