In August of this year (2016), in a matter of two weeks, we experienced three different downpours that caused the most significant damage the paths have seen in years; damage that caused us to close doors to visitors until we could get repairs in place. We’ve patched things up as best as we can but a long term solution is needed and we are working with city officials, local contractors and the community to ensure we don’t see another summer of destruction here on our magical little campus. This project will:
· Re-landscape affected gardens and paths to prevent future storm damage.
· Rebuild deteriorating bridges.
· Make our campus safe and beautiful again for the public.
· Ensure that we can continue to be a draw for hundreds of students, lodgers and tourists.
Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts in Mineral Point, WI is a creative mecca for visitors from all over, an economic engine for our region and a community asset. Shake Rag Alley is a non-profit art school, hosting close to 200 workshops a year for adults, and a boisterous summer program for kids that offers about 40 classes. We are turning to the community for support; to help us offset the costs of repairs that have already taken place, and the larger landscaping project in front of us. Our goal is to have this money raised and the project complete by the end of the year.Click this link to view more photos of the damage.
