Help Restore the Lovett Legacy Home After Flood

On March 13th, 2026, The Kona Low storm hit the North Shore of O’ahu. Being in Mokule’ia, we never expected any major flooding. Unfortunately, we did experience some flooding, had to evacuate our home, and re-locate for the night but were able to return the next day.

On March 20th, 2026, we were hit with another storm. We were told that this storm wouldn’t be as bad as the one that happened the weekend before. We all went to bed thinking we would be okay. Around 1am, we woke up to rain. When we looked outside, we had flooded again but this time it was way worse than the last time. We could not leave our house, we were trapped and eventually had to get rescued which led us to evacuating the grandbabies out of the North Shore for a couple of days. Jesse and Ian stayed to do what they could on the property and for our neighbors.

A lot of damage was done to the property. Cars were totaled, water got into several of the homes on the property, the list goes on and on and it’s still growing as more damages are discovered. We have flood insurance, so everything should’ve been covered. Or so we thought. Unfortunately the insurance company found a loop hole and will NOT be covering the damages leaving us to pay out of pocket for almost everything.

If you know the Lovett and Bitanga families, you know we are good people and show up for anyone that needs it, no matter who you are or what the situation may be. If you find it in your heart to help, we are humbly asking for donations to help repair the damage that was done to our home so we can take care of it for our future generations. Reef & Kruze are the grandkids and 5th generation of Lovett’s living on this block. This is a legacy property and will be their home and their kids and grandkids home too. The roots run deep in Mokule’ia.

Regardless of what happened, we are grateful that we are all still standing here together today. We are also so grateful to be apart of a community who never stops showing up for one another!

With love,
Jesse, Ian, Kayla, Reef, & Kruze
