Dear Community Members, Friends, and Supporters,

We are reaching out with an urgent request for help on behalf of the Islamic Center of Nassau (ICON).

On 6/6/2026, A severe storm caused a tree to fall onto nearby power lines, resulting in a major electrical incident at our center. The impact caused the electrical panels to short-circuit, leading to a fire and extensive damage to ICON's electrical infrastructure.

While we are grateful that no one was injured, the damage has been significant. In addition to the electrical destruction, The entire A/V system was destroyed. Emergency response efforts required firefighters to open and remove portions of walls and other building materials to ensure the fire was fully contained and the facility was safe. As a result, ICON now faces substantial repair and restoration costs before normal operations can fully resume.

ICON has become a growing spiritual, educational, and community home for countless families. Every week, community members gather here for prayers, religious programs, youth activities, educational events, and community services. The center plays a vital role in bringing people together and strengthening our faith and community bonds.

With Muharram approaching, time is of the essence. Our community looks to ICON during these sacred days for majalis, lectures, mourning programs, and gatherings that commemorate the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (A.S.). We are working tirelessly to restore the facility as quickly as possible so these important programs can continue safely and without interruption.
