My sister Rebekah, husband Brett, and their children have always lived close to the land and close to the Lord. Their farm in Camp Verde was more than property—it was the place where she poured out their heart, cared for the animals, grew what they could, and trusted God for every season. That quiet, hard-earned life was swept away in a single night when the floods rose with terrifying speed.
On November 1st, the Verde River and nearby creeks overflowed in a way few had ever seen. Fast-rising waters forced evacuations across Camp Verde. Homes were destroyed. Livestock was lost. And their farm—the fields, the outbuildings, the fencing, the tools, septic, power, and so much of what they had built with faith and calloused hands—was overwhelmed by the floodwaters. What remains is mud, debris, and hearts that is grieving while still clinging to hope.
They are safe, and for that we give thanks to God. But the farm that sustained her and brought her such quiet joy is gone. The financial weight of recovery is more than she can carry alone. Insurance will not cover everything. Cleanup, repairs, replacing what was lost, and simply beginning again will take far more than she has right now.
We are asking for help—not out of despair, but out of trust that the Lord still provides through His people. Scripture reminds us that “the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). They are walking through that very place right now. They are choosing to believe that God can restore what the waters took, and that He often does it through the compassion of others.
Any gift, large or small, will help them begin the long work of recovery: clearing the land, repairing what can be saved, replacing essential equipment, caring for any surviving animals, and finding a path forward. More than the money, your prayers mean everything. Please lift them up. Ask the Lord to give them strength for each day, peace in the middle of the loss, and the faith to keep walking even when the way is hard.
Both Brett and Rebekah are avid helpers in the community, donating to the less fortunate, helping with food shelters and the homeless. They would do this for anyone in the same kind of situation. If it's in your heart please help them where a you are able.
If the Lord has placed it on your heart to help, we would be deeply grateful. Every contribution and every prayer is a reminder that she is not alone—and that God’s people still stand with one another when the storms come.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And most of all, thank you for lifting the Hlasny's before the throne of grace.
“The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” —Psalm 121:7-8
With love and hope in Christ,
Joe and Naomi
