Help Restore the Heart Family Fire House and Business
Donation protected
A kitchen fire has shaken the home and heart of our family—and we’re reaching out for help.
Yesterday, my 88-year-old mother and my sister returned home from an appointment to discover a kitchen fire that had spread smoke and soot through their home and the beloved store attached to it: Secret Garden Gifts.
Thanks to the incredible Jackson Fire Department, the flames were contained and, miraculously, no people were physically harmed. Our family pets were safely taken to the vet and are doing well. But what remains is a long road ahead—one filled with unknowns, cleanup, and significant expenses.
The fire didn’t just impact a home. It affected a business that has been part of the local community for over 45 years. Secret Garden Gifts isn’t just a store—it’s a healing space. It’s where people have come for decades to find comfort, Reiki, energy work, sound therapy, healing crystals, and a little bit of peace in a chaotic world. It’s been a sanctuary for many—especially in hard times.
Right now, we are facing:
A large insurance deductible both residential and business
Veterinary care expenses (both pets are currently hanging in there)
Temporary relocation costs - Donna and Connie are staying at a local hotel as it has been deemed unsafe to reside there until the soot has been cleaned
Extensive deep cleaning and restoration of both the home and the shop
Temporary closure of the business while we assess safety and air quality
We’re leaning on our faith and each other, trusting that this too shall pass. But we could use a little help carrying the load.
If you feel moved to support—even a small donation would mean the world. And if you can’t give financially, please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Your love, support, and kindness already mean more than you know.
With all our hearts—thank you.
(Additionally, any food, clothing donations are appreciated- please email [email redacted]) Daughter Gloria will be organizing. Thanks again!
