Help restore The Heart of Carlton

Michael and Nadeen have been Carlton residents for 16 years, and have been giving back to the community through their beloved cafe ‘The Heart of Carlton’ for coming on 7 years.

Living next door, Michael and Nadeen have been awoken 5 times in the past 6 weeks to their shopfront being vandalised - taken to with a hammer twice,

paint thrown over the face of the building and then again paint mixed with urine squirted over the front entrance and through the holes in the damaged glass. Bottles of pasta sauce were then hurled at the cafe frontage smashing the bottom piece of glass.

The kindly donated funds will help cover the costs to restore and secure their shopfront, including new strengthened glass windows, fresh paint and security cameras.

Anything left over will help support their ongoing labour of love at the cafe and honest ethos to foster community and connection by keeping prices low and accessible for everyone.

Everyone is welcome at The Heart of Carlton! Located at 189 Elgin Street in Carlton and open 6am to 6pm Monday to Sunday. Please feel welcome to drop by for a bowl of pasta, curry, baguette or smoothie, all for just $5 each.
