Help Restore Tavern On The Rail Event Barn After Devastating Storm Damage

On the evening of July 26, a powerful storm tore through Mineral, Virginia, leaving a path of destruction at Tavern On The Rail Event Barn. In just a matter of minutes, years of hard work and love were devastated.

High winds ripped away part of the roof, allowing heavy rain to pour into the building. Water flooded both the first and second floors, damaging furniture, décor, antiques, oriental rugs, silk floral arrangements, equipment, and many of the one-of-a-kind pieces that have made the barn so warm and inviting. The gazebo was destroyed, mature trees were uprooted or broken, outdoor ceremony and photo areas were heavily damaged, and the property sustained extensive destruction throughout.

The damage doesn’t stop there. The barn now needs emergency roof replacement, significant siding repairs, electrical work, cleanup, restoration, and replacement of furnishings, décor, and equipment before it can safely welcome guests again.

For most businesses, this would be overwhelming. For an event venue in the middle of wedding season, it’s heartbreaking.

Melody Bowers has weddings and special events scheduled to begin within days. Couples have spent months planning one of the most important days of their lives. Melody is determined to do everything she can to keep those celebrations on track, but the repairs must begin immediately.
