I am fundraising for over 200 cataract operations to restore sight, in an underserved community in Africa, for World Sight Day this year, which will be on October 8th, 2026, and to give:
• basic eye medicines to 3,000 people
• 500 reading glasses to individuals whose education, work, and daily lives are limited by poor vision
The operations are planned in a new hospital building in Eastern Uganda, which is currently being completed, to provide eye surgeries at a low cost. The waiting list currently has 134 patients and this number is expected to surpass 200 by October.
Many people continue to live with avoidable blindness simply because they cannot afford essential eye care. Your donation, no matter the size, will help prevent needless blindness, restore independence, and give hope to children, adults, and older persons.
Together, we can transform lives, strengthen families, and build healthier communities through accessible eye care. Please donate, share this campaign, and bring the priceless gift of sight to those who need it most.
Intended use of funds include:
• camp mobilisation and media
• pre surgical treatment/drugs
• support of 3 pre- surgical camp eye screening
• purchase of reading glasses
• post-operative drugs
• facilitation for home-visits after surgery
• human resource facilitation for the medical team, and for staff and volunteers at camps (including salaries, meals and transport)
