My name is Corey Sandoval, I’m starting this fundraiser for my grandpa Dave Sandoval who is 93 and my Dad Art Sandoval who is 60. My grandpa has lived in Pasadena most of his life on Highland Street. Tuesday night when the Eaton Fire broke out, my brother and I who are both first responders were working all night evacuating people and trying to control this situation.
At 4am we rushed to our grandparent's house to evacuate them as the fire was rapidly moving down lake Street. We got them to a safe location and returned to find their back house and all three garages on fire. My grandpa has spent most of his life in motor sports, particularly sand drag racing. Our family is good friends with the Minor family and we did have one of the few Larry Minor sand jeeps. We also had a Z-28 Camaro and 1931 Ford Model A lost in the fire. Our shop consisted of a regular garage with manufacturing equipment which has been purchased over the last 55 years. We had the ability to fabricate and machine parts as needed in racing. We have spent the last few days combing through the remains and have found that numerous irreplaceable vintage high performance parts are destroyed.
We are fundraising to support the family in this time of need. We want to thank everyone who has reached out to us offering their support, it is greatly appreciated. Hopefully we will be able to rebuild the Jeep. We are down but not out. We are determined to rebuild the best we can, but it’s going to take time. We extend our deepest condolences to all those impacted by these fires. We will continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
