Help Restore Rich Coulter's Teeth

Our story
The greatest fighter we’ve ever known — our father, Richard Coulter — needs your help in his latest battle against brain cancer.

While modern medicine has kept him alive for the last two decades and enabled him to see wonders few brain cancer patients would ever dream of experiencing upon their diagnosis — like witnessing his three children graduate college and, most recently, his youngest get engaged in Boston last month, the different forms of medical treatments he’s been exposed to have taken a toll on his teeth.

Doctors up in Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where our dad’s been treated for as long as we can remember, will be pulling at least four of his teeth at the end of this month, requiring bridge work, as well as many teeth needing root canals and capping — the conclusion of a three year decay that’s left our father’s world-friendly smile looking akin to a jack-o’-lantern, albeit one that’s remarkably affable and affectionate.

As many of you who know our dad and those who have been with him through this courageous journey of survival, there’s nothing he loves more than giving back to those who he loves and making them smile in return for their generosity.

Constantly putting others before his own needs and loving them unconditionally, Rich deserves the chance to be put ahead of the line for a favor that will return that gracious smile that his family and friends dearly miss — and, of course, bring back the teeth necessary for him to chew food and perform other daily functions.

Plenty of fight left
Our dad’s fight has been a long one, yet he continues to inspire us — and plenty of others — every day through his constant upbeat and positive outlook, despite facing such a great unknown. He’s never questioned his path in the 20 years (four-fifths of our lifespans) as a cancer patient, and remains steadfast in his belief that there will one day be a cure for this disease.

However, after the personal challenges of the last two decades, he has no savings and needs helping with this dental bill that, although expensive, is very much worth it.

A restorative process like this will go towards preserving a life and a spirit that has affected all of us, whether directly or indirectly through some ripple effect or sixth degree of separation.

How to help
We are asking for the help of those who have had the joy of knowing our dad for many years, as well as those who may not know him now, but will be touched by the story of this wonderful man.

Bless you for helping Rich with a donation of any amount. Together, we will keep him afloat, strong, and ready to live a long healthy life.

Love,
Andrew, Steve and Katharine
