My daughter, our pets, and I have been without air conditioning and now heat, due to cooler weather. We have not had reliable electricity for over a month after an electrical fire damaged our main electrical box. The summer heat has made daily life extremely difficult—cooking is a challenge, and keeping everyone comfortable and safe has been nearly impossible. Our home just isn’t the same without the basics we depend on, and it’s been especially hard on my daughter and our pets.

I’m working with a licensed electrician who has provided an estimate for the repairs, but unfortunately, my insurance will not cover any of the costs. This unexpected expense comes at a time when we’re already facing a lot—earlier this year, I lost my husband, and it’s been a very tough road for our family. The stress of not having electricity and AC has only added to our challenges.
