Fundraiser Update:
Hello all,
Thank you so very much for your support. We have raised $1535 of our $2,000 goal. So far, we have been able to start the drywall repairs. We are scheduling the drywall between classes so that we do not interrupt any of our services. With this help, we did not have to dip into our payroll, and our employees are being paid on time.
Our Repair Costs
Drywall Repairs: $1,000
Landlord boarding up our back door for a temporary fix: $500
Backdoor Repairs: $3,050
News Coverage
On the morning of Tuesday, Oct 7th, 2025, our studio was broken into. Someone pried open our back door and used our shared business walls to break into Thundercloud Subs and Knuckleheads Smoke Shop. While the burglar did not steal anything from us or damage our mirrors, poles, or hardwood flooring, they did make human-sized holes in both of our studio rooms.
We do have business insurance, but we were alerted that our policy would not cover the claim. The insurance company thinks the landlord should cover it, but our commercial lease clearly states that any internal damage is our responsibility.
The timing is never great when the universe sends unexpected excitement, but our payroll and the renovations are hitting at the same time. We can cover one or the other, but not both. We are reaching out to our community for help to ensure our employees are paid on time and our walls are repaired in a timely manner.
Natasha Bajic is the owner and founder of Brass Ovaries. We plan on using our $5,000 goal to pay for drywall repairs and repaint, replace our back door, and update the security of the back entryway. The funding will go directly to Brass Ovaries to pay for repairs to our business only, using the contractors we have sourced for the work.
