Help Greg and Mo Rebuild Their Dove Loft
Donation protected
Hello, I am Greg Brooks; my wife and I live in Sebring, Florida. We are seeking funds so that we can restore our dove loft.
Just 2 weeks after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc across our peninsula, here came Milton straight at us, Category 5, hitting the coast with 120 mph winds. The second-most intense Atlantic hurricane ever recorded over the Gulf of Mexico, Milton caused over a billion dollars in damage to Florida.
With over one hundred tornadoes spawned by Milton, and seeing a weather analyst choke into tears describing the coming storm, we prepared as best as possible and rode the storm through in a nearby La Quinta Hotel.
Gratefully, we fared better than most through both storms with our home and most of our trees standing in good shape. Unfortunately, both the roofs of our dove loft and the porch that holds most of the associated cages and gear have been terminally compromised. They’re wrecked.
Straight up, unless I rebuild these roofs, I’ll have to give up these remarkable birds and the hobby I’ve loved most of my life. If, or when we’ve got the resources, I’ll replace the greenhouse-style roofs that are no longer viable with tougher stuff that can stand up to high winds and flying storm debris.
In the past, Maureen and I have given our support to the victims of Katrina and Maria. Please, if you’re able, help us put these structures right again.
We’ll be ever grateful for any amount you might be able to give!
Sincerely,
Greg, Mo, and the doves.
