Help Restore Our Family Home After Hurricane Melissa
Hi everyone, my name is J. Stephenson I’m first generation American with family from Jamaica. I’m raising funds to help my family rebuild our generational home in Jamaica that was badly damaged by Hurricane Melissa.
Our family home in Jamaica was deeply damaged by Hurricane Melissa, and we’re asking for support to help rebuild what has been a part of our family for generations.
This home isn’t just a building, it carries our family’s story. It was first built by my great-grandfather and later passed down to my grandmother, who we sadly lost to cancer last year. What started as a one-bedroom home, where nine children slept side by side, has grown into a three-bedroom home that continues to hold our intergenerational familytogether.
During the hurricane, the roof was torn apart, and heavy rain poured in, destroying our furniture, clothing, and other belongings. The land and small farm that once provided food for our family were also damaged.
We’re now working to replace the old metal roof with a concrete one that can better withstand future storms. In Jamaica, this kind of roof replacement and repair can cost several thousand dollars due to the materials and labor required, concrete roofing alone can range between $3,000–$4,000, not including the cost of interior repairs and replacing what was lost inside.
Our goal of $5,000 will go directly toward:
* Replacing the damaged metal roof with a strong concrete roof
* Repairing interior water damage
* Replacing destroyed furniture and essentials
* Supporting our family as we rebuild after this loss
This home represents love, resilience, and the legacy of those who came before us. Any amount you give will help us protect it and continue that legacy for generations to come.
Whether you donate or share this page, we appreciate you deeply. Your support helps bring our family a step closer to recovery and stability.
