Help Alicia Smile Again – Urgent Dental & Health Fund
Hi, my name is Alicia, and for 20 years, I’ve performed as Bonnie Lass, lovable pirate girl in the national act Knotty Nauticals. Alongside my husband, Travis, I’ve dedicated my life to entertaining audiences, bringing laughter and joy to people across the country.
But behind the smiles on stage, I’ve been struggling with serious health challenges. Last year, I started experiencing heart issues, forcing me to miss shows and suffer through performances. Doctors found my cortisol (stress hormone) levels high but couldn’t pinpoint a cause.
At the same time, my lifelong dental problems worsened. Over the past year, I’ve endured two dying teeth, multiple fractures, and several infections. My remaining teeth are in such poor condition that they can’t support bridges, and the deterioration is even affecting my jawbone.
The connection between oral health and heart health is undeniable—bad teeth can cause heart issues. I need full dental extractions and implants for both my upper and lower jaw. Dentures aren’t an option, as they would accelerate bone loss and cause further health issues.
As self-employed artists without insurance, we sought affordable care and found a reputable dentist in Mexico who can perform the procedure at a fraction of the U.S. cost. Even so, the total cost is $19,000—far beyond our means.
My smile isn’t just part of my identity—it’s my livelihood. I want to continue performing, speaking, and laughing without pain. More importantly, I want to be healthy for my family and feel good about myself again.
Any support, no matter the amount, would mean the world to me. Thank you for helping me reclaim my health, my smile, and my future.
With gratitude,
Alicia
