I inherited my father's 1971 Roadrunner after he passed away in October 2022. The car was in rough shape, needing a motor and suspension work. I’ve spent countless hours and resources trying to bring it back to life, and I’m now closer than ever to seeing it run again. While installing the motor, I discovered unexpected repairs needed for the strut tower, in addition to needing body and paint repairs. As of January this year, I’ve been off work with a knee injury, which has made it even harder to finish the car. My goal is to have it running and driving for car cruise season this year, just like my dad would have loved.
Recently, I came across a post on a community Facebook page where someone shared a drawing my father had made of her car. The post had hundreds of comments from people sharing memories and stories about my dad. It made me realize that restoring his car isn’t just about honoring his memory for myself, but also for the many people whose lives he touched. Seeing his Roadrunner restored and cruising the same streets he once did would mean the world to me and to everyone who knew him.
My main motivation is to finish the car so I can hand it down to my daughter as a gift and continue the legacy of our love for cars, cruises, and classic muscle. The funds from this GoFundMe will help cover all the necessary repairs and parts: coolant, motor oil, coolant lines, strut towers and welding, gas lines, rear driver side quarter panel replacement, repainting the car its original color, and new rear tires. Thank you for taking the time to donate and help me finish restoring my father’s car. Asking for help was not easy, and gathering the parts over the last four years has been tough. I’m closer to my goal than ever, and with my father’s birthday approaching on May 4th, your support will help me honor Bear Shelby and keep his memory alive.
