Just days before Christmas, my brother and his family experienced a frightening and life-altering event. A very large blue spruce tree fell onto their home, tearing a hole into the front room and damaging the roof in multiple places. We are incredibly grateful that no one was physically hurt—had the tree landed only a few inches differently, the outcome could have been devastating.
In the days that followed, the tree was removed, but the extent of the damage became clear. The roof sustained multiple punctures, leaving parts of the home exposed to the elements. After inspections by insurance adjusters, it was determined that the entire roof must be replaced and the damaged interior repaired. Until that can happen, the family is doing their best to temporarily cover the openings, but Wyoming’s cold, wind, and weather make this a constant challenge.
While insurance will help with the repairs, the deductible alone is $7,000—an amount that simply isn’t available to them right now. As a result, the home remains partially open, and the stress and uncertainty continue.
Christmas was spent with a hole in the roof. My brother and his wife are raising four children—three nephews and one niece—who are trying to feel safe again in their own home. What they need most right now is the security of knowing their home is whole and protected again.
This family is doing everything they can, but they can’t do it alone. We are asking for help to cover the deductible so repairs can begin and this family can start to heal—both physically and emotionally.
Any support, whether through donating or sharing their story, means more than we can express. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping restore
