Help Restore Maudy's Life After A Fire

My 86 year old mother, Maudy, recently narrowly escaped a house fire in which was once our family home. On that davestating day, I and my son were with her as she was getting ready for a visit with my father who had severe a stroke 2 years ago and is now in an adult foster home. After over 60 years of marriage her devotion motivated her to make this her daily routine even after she broke her back in a fall earlier this year. Then suddenly, in an unfortunate turn of events , an enormous house fire in the kitchen set off the alarms and we were lucky to make it out with our lives. In what seemed like eternity in slow motion, it actually took less than two minutes after the smoke alarms went off for the flames and smoke to engulf the inside of the house.

Although we are greatful to still have each other, I cant begin to express how deeply saddened my mother is about this tragedy.

Unfortunately, because of the extent of damage to the home most everything she owned that wasn't burned by the fire was deemed not salvagable because of the smoke damage and presence of asbestos in the ceilings. It is estimated that it will take at least a year before her home is rebuilt. We are now learning that the insurance coverage she had in place is significantly insufficient and she is in need of financial help.

Although nothing can replace her momentos, we have started this GoFundMe to assist her in purchasing essentials, the replacement of content in her home insurance will not cover, and all the unexpected expenses for the next year that arise from such a catastrophic event.
