Help Rebuild a Home for Women Vets: Honoring a Legacy of Service
In the historic Vandeventer neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, a vision is being rebuilt: a future transitional home created to support women veterans seeking healing, stability, dignity, and renewed purpose after military service.
The home belongs to 86-year-old U.S. Air Force veteran and retired Registered Nurse, 2nd Lt. Delores McCrea, whose lifelong dedication to service inspired the mission behind Veteran Women of Influence.
What was meant to become a safe and supportive space for women veterans was severely damaged during contracted renovation work, leaving the home uninhabitable and delaying plans to help the very women this project was created to serve.
The damage also impacted the neighboring property of the late Charles Brantley, a respected Tuskegee Airman whose legacy remains deeply rooted in this historic community.
Today, this fundraiser is about more than restoring a structure.
It is about creating a future home where women veterans can transition forward with support, wellness resources, mentorship, and community.
Funds raised will help support:
• Critical home repairs and rebuilding
• Plumbing, rehabilitation, and restoration expenses
• Furnishings and recovery support for future women veteran housing efforts
• Legal and professional expenses tied to contractor accountability
• Preservation and stabilization efforts connected to this historic veteran-centered block
Lt. McCrea spent her life caring for others through military service, nursing, and community advocacy. Now, this project seeks to continue that spirit of service by helping women veterans rebuild their own futures.
Every donation helps move this vision closer to reality.
Please consider donating and sharing this campaign during Give STL Day as we work together to restore hope, preserve legacy, and create a place where women veterans can rise beyond transition into healing, stability, and opportunity.
