My name is Rod Schwartz and I have been playing live music in and around Pittsburgh for the past 42 years. Over the past eight years, I have rehearsed and performed at Liveburgh more times than I can count. Many of the shows I have been part of simply would not have been possible without the space, equipment, and generosity Chris and Amy provide. Even nationally touring artists who have rehearsed there with us have said they have never experienced anything quite like Liveburgh.

Chris and Amy Leya have spent years opening their home, Liveburgh, to Pittsburgh’s music community. Liveburgh is more than just a house—it’s a creative haven where musicians gather to rehearse, perform, and connect. Hundreds of local and touring artists have benefited from the welcoming space, complete with a PA system, microphones, amplifiers, and drums, all available at little or no cost. Chris and Amy have always believed in supporting independent art, covering most expenses themselves so that Liveburgh could remain accessible to all.

Recently, Liveburgh suffered a major setback. A water leak from an upstairs bathroom caused a large section of the drywall ceiling to collapse, resulting in extensive damage. When Chris and Amy reached out to their longtime insurance provider, they discovered their policy had lapsed without notice, leaving them responsible for all repair costs. This emergency comes at a time when they are already facing rising property taxes, utility bills, and maintenance expenses. Funds raised will help repair the collapsed ceiling, fix the plumbing, remove and replace damaged materials, clean and restore rehearsal and performance areas, protect and repair musical equipment, purchase a new insurance policy, and cover urgent property tax, utility, and maintenance expenses. This support will ensure Liveburgh remains available to Pittsburgh and touring musicians.

Liveburgh has provided rehearsal space, performance opportunities, hospitality, and support to hundreds of local and national acts—creating friendships, collaborations, and memories that might not have happened without Chris and Amy’s generosity.

Why Liveburgh Matters: Liveburgh is an essential part of Pittsburgh’s independent music community. It gives musicians a fully equipped place to rehearse. It gives local performers an intimate venue where they can develop new material and connect with audiences. Most importantly, it gives artists a home. Chris and Amy have supported this community for years. Now they need the community they have helped to support them.
