Help Restore Kuan-Yin for Our Temple
Tax deductible
On Sunday, 1/9/22, the Kuan-Yin Buddhist Association of Philadelphia faced a tragic act of vandalism. Outside of the temple, the Kuan-Yin statue, a symbol for peace and compassion, was torn down. An unidentified man had made attempts to tear down the statue before finally succeeding and knocking it down to the ground. It shattered Kuan-Yin's head and hands off of the statue, deeming it irreparable.
This is a devastating loss for the Buddhist community. While this may seem like it's about a statue, it is much more than that. The Quan Yin statue represents the values of compassion, peace, and protection. For many temple-goers, praying to the statue provided comfort and solace for those facing turmoil. Seeing it destroyed marks a loss for this peace. The temple is currently collecting funds to replace the statue to provide its members with peace once again. The temple appreciates any support and help that it can receive during this painful time.
